The parasitic disease enterobiasis, which occurs in the digestive tract, gallbladder and its ducts, is caused by unicellular flagellates of lamblia (Giardia).

Often, the manifestations of these parasites are very similar to the symptoms of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, which is the reason for an incorrect diagnosis (cholecystitis, biliary dyskinesia, enterocolitis, etc.).

What to do in such a situation? To get started, we recommend reading this article. This article details the methods of dealing with parasites. We also recommend contacting a specialist. Read the article >>>

Treatment of enterobiasis should be carried out after the diagnosis is made on the basis of tests and only as directed by a doctor.

Common factors of what are afraid of Giardia

It is far from always that the ingress of lamblia through the esophagus into the intestine causes invasion. What are Giardia afraid of? There are a number of factors that prevent the development of the disease:

  • An insufficient number of lamblia cysts that have entered the digestive tract (no more than 10);
  • Increased acidity in the digestive tract, which creates an unfavorable environment for parasites;
  • An abundance of spicy foods (onions, garlic, peppers);
  • The presence of antibodies. The human body is able to produce specific immunoglobulins in response to intestinal lamblia that enter it. They usually persist in the blood for several months after the illness, but they can be present in it from birth;
  • Good immunity. Even if parasites enter the gastrointestinal tract, where they live for a long time, they do not always cause the development of giardiasis - a person can remain just a carrier.

The dosage for children is reduced and is prescribed at the rate of a daily dose of 50-60 mg / kg of body weight. Children are treated for 3 days.

For the treatment of giardiasis, modern powerful drugs Macmiror and Nemozol have also been used recently. Macmiror, simultaneously with the destruction of parasites, helps to cure concomitant pathologies (stomach ulcer, urinary tract infections).

Nemozole is used as part of a complex treatment. In acute forms of giardiasis, an emergency one-phase treatment regimen is used, which implies taking large doses of Metronidazole (Trichopolum) for 5-7 days.
