The medication is designed to eliminate various parasitic helminths, so the medication is available in several formats. Most often, the medication is used in the form of tablets, but in some cases it is necessary to use a solution, suppositories or capsules.

In its composition, candles, tablets and capsules contain 500 mg of ornidazole. Any form of medication has a pronounced antibacterial and antiprotozoal effect on the body. In addition to the presence of parasitic individuals in the body, the drug Ornidazole is advised to drink in case of duodenal ulcers, stomach ulcers, after surgical interventions in the area of the large intestine or during operations in the field of gynecology.

There are no identical analogues of Ornidazole, however, there is a list of drugs that are similar in their action:

  • Gairo;
  • Lornisol;
  • Ornisid;
  • Dazolic;
  • Avrazor;
  • Tiberal.

These drugs do not have the same effect as Ornidazole, but can be prescribed for treatment with the same diagnosis. Another analogue of Ornidazole is Tenonitrozole, which is produced in the form of capsules containing 250 milligrams of the active substance.

What is the medicine effective for? Among the therapeutic indications for the use of Ornidazole is the defeat of the body by infectious diseases caused by parasites:

  • ureaplasmosis;
  • giardiasis;
  • amoebiasis;
  • demodicosis;
  • trichomoniasis.

The medicine is prescribed for bacterial vaginitis. Among the indications for Ornidazole, the provision of preventive measures during operations in gynecology and in the colonic region is distinguished.

Admission rules, dosages

The dosage required for the treatment of a diagnosed disease is calculated exclusively by the attending physician, however, there are also general doses of the drug

The tablets are prescribed for adults. Ornidazole 500 mg (1 tablet) is the minimum dosage of the drug. The maximum dosage is 2 grams of the active ingredient. The entire dose of the drug is allowed to be divided into several doses within 1 day. It is best to use the medication in the evening for 5 - 7 days. In this case, the use of Ornidazole tablets should be made at the same time and not on an empty stomach.

Suppositories used intervaginally after hygiene procedures. The daily value is equal to 1 to 2 grams of the active ingredient.

The solution is used for injection. The maximum daily dosage should be 0.5 - 1 gram of the active ingredient. The entire volume is divided into 3 injections, the break between which should be at least 8 hours.

When treating children weighing less than 35 kilograms, the daily dosage is 20-40 milligrams per 1 kilogram of the total weight.

To combat demodex

Demodectic mange is a parasitic disease caused by skin mites. Ornidazole with demodicosis is prescribed to provide acaricidal action. The drug kills adult ticks and blocks the development of their larvae. Demodecosis needs complex treatment, therefore, in addition to Ornidazole, the attending physician often prescribes antiseptic drugs. Antiseptics are recommended for topical use.

The recommended dosage of Ornidazole is 0.5 grams twice a day. The treatment course is determined by a physician based on the patient's skin condition, his individual characteristics. In most cases, the treatment course does not exceed 15 days. It is during this time that the use of the medication will not provoke the development of adverse reactions.

To combat lamblia

One of the most severe parasitic pathologies is giardiasis. Such a parasitic disease requires intensive therapy, therefore Ornidazole with giardiasis is prescribed in higher dosages. For the treatment of people weighing more than 35 kilograms, the drug is recommended in a dosage of 1500 milligrams of the active ingredient. It is necessary to take an anthelmintic agent before bedtime, after eating food.

For the treatment of children weighing less than 35 kilograms, the dosage is calculated based on the exact body weight. So, for 1 kilogram, you should take 40 milligrams of medicine. The treatment course is 2 days. During this time, the parasites not only die, but also begin to leave the human body.

To exclude the development of adverse reactions, you should carefully study the instructions for use of Ornidazole before use.

There are several contraindications for taking the medication:

  • age not exceeding 3 years;
  • the presence of intolerance to the active or auxiliary components of the drug, to nitroimidazole derivatives;
  • the presence of organic failures of the central nervous system;
  • the first 3 months of pregnancy;
  • hormonal disruptions;
  • breast-feeding.

The drug Dazolik is necessary to eliminate:

  • amoebic dysentery;
  • giardiasis;
  • trichomoniasis;
  • extraintestinal amebiasis;
  • for the prevention of pathologies caused by various infections during gynecological and intestinal surgical interventions.

Since Ornidazole is an antibiotic, it is prescribed with caution to the elderly and to those suffering from alcohol dependence. If a person has been diagnosed with pathologies of the hematopoietic organs or liver, treatment with Ornidazole can be performed exclusively under the close supervision of the attending physician.

Can I drink the drug with alcohol or not? Since Ornidazole is an antibiotic, its simultaneous use with alcoholic products is not advised, although the description of the drug does not prohibit the use of alcohol during treatment.
