The main indications for the appointment of Metronidazole and drug analogues:
- intestinal infections;
- infection of the reproductive system with vaginal Trichomonas (trichomoniasis);
- invasion of unicellular helminths lamblia (giardiasis);
- inflammation of the urethra (urethritis);
- inflammatory processes of the vaginal mucosa (vaginitis);
- purulent inflammation of various tissues in the body (abscess);
- general purulent infection of the blood (sepsis);
- inflammation of the intestinal mucosa (colitis);
- prevention of the development of infectious processes in the postoperative period;

General recommendations for the use of Metronidazole and its analogues
The therapeutic course of the drug is prescribed individually, depending on the disease and its stage
When using the drug, the intake of alcoholic beverages and alcohol-containing preparations is excluded
To prevent dangerous situations while taking Metronidazole and similar drugs, it is not recommended to drive. You should not engage in any activity that requires increased concentration.
Long-term therapy with such drugs requires weekly monitoring of blood counts.
During the treatment of trichomoniasis, it is recommended to refuse intimate contacts.
Similar drugs
There are several drugs that belong to the same pharmacological group with Metronidazole. The difference between these drugs from each other in the active substance or auxiliary components, which are decisive in the choice of the drug. What medicine to prescribe for treatment, in each individual case, must be decided by the doctor.
Trichopolus
One of the most common drugs in the list of analogues is Trichopol. There are practically no differences in the action on infection between the drugs.

Choosing which is better - Trichopol or Metronidazole, one should take into account the advantages of the improved drug:
- less aggressive action on the digestive tract;
- approval for admission during pregnancy (from the second trimester);
- the possibility of treating children from the age of six;
- accelerated effectiveness: Metronidazole and Trichopolum have different degrees of absorption into the body. The latter is absorbed more quickly and gently, which speeds up the process of eliminating the infection.
If there is no fundamental difference for the patient's well-being, take Metronidazole or Trichopolum, the cost of the drug may be a decisive factor. The more modern version has a higher price.
Ornidazole
Another modern remedy for combating protozoal infections is Ornidazole. The drug is similar to Metronidazole in action, but differs in composition. The active substance is ornidazole. The auxiliary ones are: cellulose, starch, magnesium stearate, talc.
To be treated with Ornidazole or Metronidazole, depends on the patient's individual susceptibility to the drug. Ornidazole acts more severely and often causes side effects, but the time period for drug treatment is much shorter. There is practically no price difference between drugs.
Batsimex
Indications and contraindications for taking Batsimex are identical to Metronidazole. The main difference lies in the form of drug use. Batsimex is most often used in the form of a drip solution.
Flagil
The medicine contains metronidazole as an active ingredient, has a pronounced antibacterial effect. Available in the form of a gel, tablets and suppositories.

The latter are prescribed to women as an introvaginal drug with fewer undesirable consequences. Not used for the treatment of children.
Trichocept
This analogue is most popular in the form of a gel for the treatment of vaginitis and urethritis. It is used as an adjunct in the treatment of trichomoniasis.
Rosamet
It is used for the treatment of invasive epidermal lesions in the form of a cream or ointment with 1% content of metronidazole as an active substance.
Metrogyl
Derivative of Metronidazole. It is used to treat anaerobic infections. It is categorically contraindicated for use by persons with disorders of the central nervous system, especially patients with epilepsy. Has a number of side effects on the part of the central nervous system:
- dizziness, even fainting;
- loss of spatial orientation;
- nervous overexcitement.
Fazizhin
Used by doctors in the same cases as Metronidazole. The most effective for getting rid of postoperative infectious lesions of aerobic etiology.
Klion
The drug is made on the basis of metronidazole. Has a wide spectrum of action, a short course of admission. Well tolerated by patients. The disadvantages include a fairly high cost in relation to other drugs of this pharmacological group.
Mikozhinaks
The medicine is available in the form of vaginal tablets for the treatment of gynecological diseases and trichomoniasis. In addition to metronidazole, it contains nystatin (an antifungal agent) and dexamethasone (a hormone produced by the adrenal cortex).
To avoid complications, you should not engage in the selection of analogues yourself.
