What is toxoplasmosis
This is an infectious disease, the source of which is the simplest.
Parasites can settle in the heart, lungs, nerve cells. They can harm several vital organs at once: they can infect the retina of the eyes, the nervous system, muscle muscles, and the heart.
With them, an increase in individual organs is found - the liver, spleen, lymph nodes.
Important: before starting treatment, you need to have a sufficient understanding of this infection, as well as how to diagnose and treat it
Ways of infection with toxoplasmosis
Pets are not the only ones who can carry this infection. She can get on vegetables and fruits grown in the garden with the waste products of mice, rabbits, stray cats and dogs.
The infection is also transmitted through the donor's blood and transplanted organs if the donor was sick. Even if there is an untreated wound, if a pathogen enters it, this disease can occur.
The causes of the disease can be:
- unwashed hands after cleaning cat litter and lightly touching the mouth with them;
- eating raw or incompletely cooked meat: pig, lamb or deer;
- eating raw chicken eggs;
- touching the mouth after handling raw meat.
When it enters the human body, this infection begins to affect the intestines and genitals. It is a parasite, therefore it develops and multiplies at the expense of an infected person.
When a person is a carrier
If the immune system is strong, then most parasites choose the second form of existence and turn into cysts. A person does not notice the symptoms of the disease, being their carrier. However, as soon as favorable conditions arise, the membranes of the cysts are destroyed, and the parasites begin to develop again. At this time, an exacerbation occurs.

In the body of an infected person, antibodies begin to be produced, they give a positive result, even when there is no exacerbation.
From animals
You can get infected from a sick animal:
- when the cat tries to bite, producing saliva;
- when cleaning the toilet, not only with feces, but also with urine;
- through blood and lymph: Parasites can enter through cuts or wounds when petting animals.

Diagnostics
The disease is determined by analyzes and external examination of the patient. A survey is underway: whether the patient had contact with cats and dogs. In laboratory research, attention is paid to the immune system and parasites.
For the first diagnosis, intradermal samples are taken, the serological reaction is checked. This method provides a more accurate diagnosis.
