Multicellular organisms are represented by different species, which can be both beneficial to humans and harm them, greatly undermining health. Among these organisms there are small and large, differing from each other in body structure and internal organs.

Flatworms differ from round worms in the absence of an internal cavity. All the space between the organs and the musculocutaneous system is occupied by cells. Their structure is ribbon-like or leaf-like with bilateral symmetry. The mouth is on the abdomen, the senses are on the front of the body. Due to the closed intestine, the mouth performs the function of the anus in these individuals. The back and front ends of the tape are easily distinguishable. Flatworms are able to wriggle in any direction and stretch thanks to the skin-muscle sac. This species also includes bovine and pork tapeworms.

The cavity of the roundworms (hydroskeleton) is filled with fluid that provides the shape of the body. In these multicellular organisms, muscles run along the body, giving them the ability to only bend. It is difficult to distinguish the front from the back in this species at first glance. Their intestines begin from the mouth, ending with the anus. The respiratory and circulatory systems are absent. The most common representatives are pinworms and roundworms.

The reproductive system in both species is also different. Flat or banded organisms are hermaphrodites, in contrast to round ones, which are heterosexual. That is, one individual has both female and male reproductive organs, due to which self-fertilization occurs.

These species also differ in the number of parasites. There are more of them in the group of nematodes, or roundworms. Along with the differences, the same features can be traced:

  • elongated body shape;
  • belonging to parasites;
  • reproduction by larvae or eggs;
  • lack of respiratory and circulatory systems;
  • bilateral symmetry.

Flat individuals include trematodes. This is a class of parasites that can provoke various infectious diseases in humans.
