Signs of human infection with bovine tapeworm

The source of bovine tapeworm infection is raw or undercooked meat. At risk, first of all, there are people who work in pastures and in direct contact with cattle. What signs of infection should you pay attention to in order to start therapy in a timely manner and not to start the progression of tapeworm infection.

Pathogenesis of teniarhynchiasis

The main factor of mechanical irritation of the mucous membrane of the small intestine is the fixation of the scolex in the human body. This process is accompanied by irritation of neuromuscular receptors and a negative effect on the functioning of the entire digestive system.

The bovine tapeworm feeds on human nutrients, while the tapeworm absorbs the necessary nutrients from the entire surface of the body. As a result, the patient feels a constant feeling of hunger.

The main symptom of human infection with bovine tapeworm is the regular appearance of individual segments from the anus. The constant discomfort that accompanies this process has a negative effect on the human psyche.

Signs of Teniarhynchosis - Clinical Research

According to clinical studies, in 98% of all cases of bovine tapeworm infection, a number of characteristic symptoms are observed, which, in terms of the severity of their intensity, are represented by the following list.

When there is a selection of members, a person feels an unpleasant itching in the anus

  • Allocation of segments. When this process is activated, the patient feels an unpleasant itching in the anus. The discomfort is worse at night.
  • Attacks of pain in the abdomen, accompanied by nausea, constipation, or diarrhea.
  • General weakness.
  • Appetite changes. At the initial stage of infection, the patient feels constant hunger, when the disease progresses, the appetite decreases, as the tapeworm begins to actively feed on the internal resources of the person.
  • Signs of an allergic nature.

The doctor can make a preliminary diagnosis of teniarinhoz by a blood test if it develops:

  • eosinophilia (the level of eosinophils increases);
  • leukopenia (the level of leukocytes decreases);
  • moderate anemia (the level of erythrocytes and hemoglobin decreases).

Note: much less often a person develops disturbances in the functioning of the heart, accompanied by tinnitus, shortness of breath, the appearance of "flies" in front of the eyes and bleeding from the nose.

Signs of a bovine tapeworm infection in adults

Teniarinhoz, manifests itself already in the chronic stage, when the helminth begins to actively feed. In this regard, the patient experiences dramatic changes in appetite. In addition, symptoms characteristic of other pathologies appear, which is why the treatment of teniarhynchiasis is not always carried out correctly.

Home treatment only relieves symptoms of infection, but does not eradicate the cause of poor health.

First of all, the metabolic products of the bovine tapeworm, which have a sensitizing effect, negatively affect the functioning of the human body. As a result, the patient's sensitivity to allergens sharply increases.

Signs of human infection with bovine tapeworm are conventionally divided into several groups

Dyspeptic manifestations

Less often, when infected with tapeworm, convulsions occur, and Miniere's disease develops - a pathology of the inner ear, which is characterized by the accumulation of fluid and a decrease in hearing acuity.

Pains that resemble colic occur, as a rule, this means that the tapeworm segment moves in the body. Patients often confuse this pain with appendicitis.

The functioning of the biliary tract is impaired, in medicine this symptom is called dyskinesia. A characteristic manifestation in the form of biliary colic.

Sometimes the symptoms of glossitis appear - the tongue swells, foci of inflammation develop and the color changes.

Symptoms of teniarhynchosis in children

In children, the process of infection with bovine tapeworm is sharper and more severe. The younger the child is, the more serious the pathology is and the worse the baby's condition is. Detailed diagnostics are required for an accurate diagnosis. Treatment can only be prescribed by a doctor, since in each clinical case an individual therapy regimen is selected.

According to statistics, almost 80% of infected children develop severe pain syndrome, the localization of which is very different:

  • in the umbilical region;
  • in the area of the duodenum;
  • in the gallbladder area;
  • in the area of the appendix.

In most cases, the pain does not have a permanent localization, but moves.

Note: if the pain syndrome does not change its location, this is most likely a symptom of other pathologies. In this case, the doctor prescribes an examination to diagnose such diseases, pancreatitis, appendicitis, gastritis, cholecystitis.

A child infected with the parasite does not enjoy even the most delicious foods.

It is important to carefully question the child - as a rule, the pain syndrome is accompanied by unpleasant sounds in the abdomen (rumbling, buzzing, bursts). Older children complain of constant belching after eating, nausea. Even the most beloved and delicious foods are not enjoyable. In difficult situations, anorexia develops. Even with a complete lack of appetite, the child has profuse salivation and impaired stool.

Almost 20% of infected children experience a sharp change in mood - the child becomes irritable, withdrawn, depressed, nightmares can occur at night, and the baby is sleepy and absent-minded during the day.

In children with advanced forms of tapeworm infection, vitamin B 1 deficiency is manifested. Lack of thiamine in the child's body is manifested by a number of symptoms:

  • the mucous membrane of the tongue becomes dry;
  • the tongue becomes saturated red;
  • hypotrophy is a type of dystrophy, which is expressed in a discrepancy between body weight and growth;
  • the child feels weakness in the limbs, hands and feet are cold, acquire a "marble" shade;
  • convulsions occur;
  • there is a feeling of "goose bumps" on the skin.

If the child's body does not receive enough vitamin B 1 for a long time, anemia develops.

Note: if the child's body does not receive enough vitamin B 1 for a long time, anemia develops.

Children who become infected with a tapeworm show pronounced symptoms of poisoning and allergies.

Note: The seasonal slaughter of cattle, which traditionally takes place in October and November, is the reason for the increase in the number of infected children.

Treatment of teniarinchiasis

Drug treatment.

  • "Fenasal" ("Yomezan") - destroys the tapeworm cuticle, as a result, the helminth is naturally digested in the body. The daily dosage for children under 5 years old is from 0.5 to 1 g, for children from 6 to 9 years old - from 1 to 1.5 g, for children from 10 to 12 years old - from 1.5 to 2 g. The drug is dissolved in sweet water and drink in the morning before breakfast or before bedtime three hours after dinner.
  • "Praziquantel" ("Biltricid", "Caesol") - has a paralyzing effect on adults and larvae. The drug is characterized by rapid absorption and is excreted by 90% from the body throughout the day. The daily dose for a child is 25 mg per 1 kg of body weight. Treatment with praziquantel is contraindicated in children under 2 years of age.

Treatment with phytopreparations.

  • Filixin is a product based on the rhizome of a male fern. Children under 5 years old are given from 1 to 2.5 g, at the age from 6 to 10 years - from 3 to 4 g, from 11 to 15 years - from 5 to 6 g. Treatment is carried out as follows - tablets are taken with a break of five minutes, after a few hours they take a laxative and an hour later - breakfast.
  • "Kukurbin" is a concentrated preparation based on pumpkin seeds. Preschool children take 2.5 g per day, schoolchildren - 5 g. The drug must be dissolved in half a glass of water and after three hours drink a laxative. Five courses are conducted with a break per week.

Treatment of teniarhynchiasis for a child should be prescribed only by a qualified doctor. The specialist monitors the dynamics of therapy and, if necessary, makes changes to it.

If you do not seek medical help in time, then you may have surgery in the future (see video). If the patient has help, then you may have surgery in the future.
