One-year-old babies actively move around the house, learning about the world around them. One way to get to know a new subject is to taste it. The larvae of worms can enter the shelter on outer clothing or shoes, and the protective forces of the child's body are not enough to fight parasites. The task of the parents is to find suitable preparations for worms for children from one year old.

Symptoms

Symptoms may be absent for a long time. Signs of infection are often "masked" and resemble colds or infections. A specific symptom is a significant increase in temperature (up to 38 degrees) in the absence of inflammatory processes in the body.

The most common parasites are pinworms (provoke enterobiasis) and roundworms (cause ascariasis). Symptoms during infection are approximately the same. Against the background of a feverish state, the child becomes irritable, moody and whiny. At the same time, the kid suffers from a headache.

The waste products of parasites poison the body and lead to intoxication. At the same time, small children cannot explain exactly what they are feeling. The following signs of worms are also observed in children 1 year old:

  • nausea and severe vomiting;
  • allergies;
  • weight loss;
  • exacerbation of dermatological diseases;
  • itching in the anal area;
  • decreased immunity and exacerbation of viral diseases;
  • discomfort in the navel.

Treatment

Most helminth drugs are toxic and not suitable for children under 12 years of age. The task of the parents is to choose a low-toxic medicine and prevent subsequent intoxication of the body: after the worms die, decay products are formed. Through the walls of the organs, they enter the bloodstream and need timely withdrawal. Therefore, for the treatment of pinworms in a one-year-old child, an integrated approach is needed.

Pills

For the safe treatment of worms in a 1-year-old child, three types of drugs are most often used: Pirantel, Piperazine and Nemocid. It is not recommended to select medicines on your own, any therapy should be carried out under the supervision of a pediatrician, but at home.

Pirantel

Pirantel is suitable for both enterobiasis and ascariasis. It is produced in the form of tablets and suspensions: it is more convenient for small children to give syrup. The drug attacks the muscles of the parasites, causes paralysis and immobilizes them, after which the helminths are excreted in the feces. The duration of the course depends on the degree of damage to the body and the type of larvae. The dosage is 10 mg per 1 kg of the child's weight.

Piperazine

Piperazine is used in the detection of pinworm eggs or ascaris. You need to take a pill twice a day, the dosage for a one-year-old child is 200 mg of funds. It is impossible to combine the drug with other remedies for worms.

Nemocide

By action, Nemocid resembles Pirantel and has similar indications. Mixed infections require taking 3-4 tablets, with the invasion of the "mild" form, a single dose is sufficient. The drug is also available in the form of a worm syrup for children from one year old.

Before using any drug, you must read the instructions and take into account all contraindications. In parallel with the course of treatment, it is necessary to choose a fast-acting laxative for children in order to get rid of the dead parasites as soon as possible.

It is quite difficult to find candles for worms for children from one year old - most of these drugs are prohibited from using for patients under five years old. With the approval of a doctor, Viferon can be used - it is suitable for both babies and pregnant and lactating women.

With a pronounced allergic reaction to worms, antihistamines such as Zyrtec, Fenistil or Zodak should be prescribed (preferably in the form of drops).

Folk remedies

One of the most famous foods that help fight worms is garlic. It has antimicrobial, antiparasitic and antiviral effects and has a positive effect on the state of immunity. Small servings of minced garlic should be added to your child's food, but it is important to control the pungency of the food.

Pumpkin seeds also have an anthelmintic effect. Children under seven years old can be given no more than 150 grams per week. The most convenient way is to make pumpkin milk. Seeds need to be crushed in a blender or minced, pour 400-450 ml of boiling water and put in a water bath for 2-3 hours. You need to insist the product all night, and strain through cheesecloth or a paper filter before use.

You can use linseed or hemp oil. Children can be given a teaspoon before meals once a day. If the baby refuses to take the remedy, it is added to food.

Ways of infection and prevention

The eggs of the worms trapped in the soil remain viable for several months. They easily "stick" to anything. A small child can become infected in several ways:

  • by contact: through toys, animals, or dirty objects;
  • alimentary: parasites enter the body through the mouth with meat that has not undergone heat treatment, unwashed vegetables or fruits;
  • aquatic: with contaminated river water or when drinking unboiled liquid.

To prevent infection, parents need to monitor the hygiene of the baby and all family members. There are a few simple rules to follow:

  1. Toddler's nails should be kept short and clean.
  2. After using the toilet, handling pets, or walking, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
  3. It is advisable to keep the child away from dirty shoes.
  4. Pets should be worm-driven every six months.
  5. The child's bedding and underwear must be carefully ironed with a hot iron.
  6. It is important to rinse toys and nipples thoroughly.

When the child begins to go to preschool, together with the pediatrician, it is worth choosing a drug for the prevention of helminthic invasion.

Diagnostics

The main way to diagnose invasion is to analyze feces. No prior preparation is required for this. It is necessary to collect feces early in the morning: worms show maximum activity at night. You need to repeat the analysis three times, collecting material on different days.

Another suitable method for confirming the diagnosis is a smear taken from the perianal folds. During the procedure, the laboratory assistant runs a sterile cotton swab over the anus, the process is absolutely painless and does not cause discomfort to the baby.

The sampling of materials is taken 2-3 months after infection. During this time, the parasites reach puberty and begin to actively reproduce, which affects the condition of the host.

In case of intoxication, the etiology of which cannot be found out, the child can have a blood test. It will show the presence of antibodies to the toxins secreted by helminths. A positive result may appear within the first three months after infection. Then the amount of antibodies decreases, and only feces can be examined.
