These organelles belong to one-membrane cell structures. Some structures are permanent, while others appear for some function.

They arise as a result of the spread of the vesicles of the Golgi apparatus and the endoplasmic reticulum.

There are three types of organelles:

  1. Digestive - these are fickle components that arise when unicellular animals (or those organisms that feed by phagocytosis or pinocytosis) take up food. They swallow, digest food, and absorb nutrients. This organoid can be compared to a human stomach, it also digests captured microbes or algae in the same way;
  2. contractile is a network of channels and performs the function of absorbing the necessary fluid and removing unnecessary water. Some scientists suggest that this organelle is involved in respiration;
  3. in a plant cell, these are small one-membrane structures filled with cell sap. In young plant cells, there can be more than three of them. The main role of the vacuole in the plant cell is the supply of nutrients and the removal of unnecessary and harmful components outside.

The functions of the vacuole are varied:

  1. In some plant organelles, the remains of vital activity are deposited, after which substances are formed that are able to secrete an enzyme. These substances scare away animals that eat grass (they have a bitter or astringent taste). A striking example is the plant dandelion or euphorbia, if we tear off a leaf, we will see white milk - this is the content of vacuoles.
  2. With the help of a semi-permeable membrane, it can absorb water into itself, as a result of which the internal pressure in the cell increases. This is very important during growth and for the water balance of the plant.
  3. Some vacuoles contain pigments that actually color flowers, fruits and leaves in multi-colored colors. Bright colors for flowers are very important, as insects primarily pollinate bright and large flowers.
  4. In plants, these components are involved in autolysis, which means that cells are engaged in self-digestion.
  5. Some of these components function as specific reservoirs that store essential nutrients. Such as sucrose, various proteins, organic acids, mineral salts and many other substances.
