Infection and development

So, it all starts with getting pinworm eggs on the skin of the hands. They often hide under long nails.

Entering the body by the oral route, the pinworm egg travels through the intestines down to the thin one. For some time, the larva hatches from it. It feeds on the walls of the small intestine, slowly destroying tissue. Two weeks later, the moment of maturity comes.

The female, slightly larger in appearance than the male, heads for a natural exit from the intestines, not to leave the body, but to lay new eggs between the folds of skin around the anus. Mostly this occurs closer to the night time, when there is a peak in the activity of these parasites.

On average, the number of eggs is about 5-15 thousand pieces at a time. And then what is called self-infection happens. The mucus secreted by future pinworms irritates the skin, causing unbearable itching.

If a person does not pay attention to this first and main symptom in time, he begins to comb the place where the eggs are laid. Those, in turn, fall on the fingers again.

An unsuspecting person continues to use household items, spreading the infection to any thing that he touched with his hands. And this happens indefinitely, until the carrier understands that he is suffering from enterobiasis and does not begin to actively heal himself.

Diagnostics and prevention

The treatment of pinworms is not easy and very unpleasant. The first thing a patient should do, who suspects that worms have densely settled in his intestines, is to go to the hospital.

Scraping for pinworms. It is produced in two ways. The first is done with adhesive tape. It is applied to the affected area for a few seconds, and then transferred to the glass.

The second way is more “homey”. Run a cotton swab over the anus and put it into a jar, tightly closing the lid. Then she is taken to the laboratory for further diagnostics.

An experienced infectious disease specialist can easily detect signs of enterrebiosis in you during the examination due to traces of scratching, and possibly the helminths themselves on the surface.

If the worms made themselves felt before you went to the doctor, it is best to take simple measures for prevention and, as a result, for treatment.

First you need to wash all linen, both underwear and bedding, and iron it thoroughly. Wash your hands after the street, before eating, if you have not done this before.

Many people use traditional medicine, but not all of them are suitable. For example, it is not recommended for pinworms for children to use garlic decoctions as a medicine, as this can damage the internal tissues. Alternative therapy is also not suitable for all adults.

Fortunately, today the pharmaceutical market is full of various drugs, thanks to which the worms are removed from the body almost painlessly.

There are several criteria for choosing the right medicine:

  • The very first factor is the physical age of the infected person.
  • Its weight.
  • The intensity of the development and reproduction of helminths in the body.
  • The presence of any pathologies in the body.
  • Individual characteristics of the perception of individual components that make up a particular drug.

The forms and types of drugs are different, but doctors agree that tablets are better than others to have an effect on worms.

However, there are drugs that are completely safe not only for children, but also for women in the following position:

  1. Pirantel. Its forms are different - from tablets to suspension. The principle of action is to block the neuromuscular system of parasites, as a result of which they are calmly and painlessly excreted from the body in natural ways. It copes well with the task both on larvae and on adults of pinworms.
  2. Piperazine. Its better known name is Piperazine adipate. Form - tablet. It causes paralysis of the pinworm muscle. Also does not depend on the stage of development. It is drunk in a course of five days.
  3. Dekaris. Or Levomizol. It is noteworthy that at the beginning of its journey it was used by people as an immunomodulator, and already as an antihelminthic - much later. Paralyzes the nerves of pinworms, removes them within 24 hours from the moment of application. It is unacceptable for women who are breastfeeding, and it is not at all recommended for children under the age of three years.
  4. Mebendazole. With the help of this agent, worms are deprived of the normal synthesis of ATP and stable utilization of glucose in organisms. Contraindicated for pregnant women and children under two years of age. It is strictly forbidden to use the medicine for people with liver problems. Also, should not be consumed before, after or during alcohol consumption.
  5. Zentel. He is Albendazole. Violates the transport and processing of glucose in helminths, which leads to their death and removal from the human body. Appearance - suspension and tablets. Do not use for children under one year old, pregnant and lactating women.
  6. I fed. Perhaps the only one that does not have a second name in this list. One of the most powerful remedies prescribed by a doctor in the most extreme cases is when there are more than fifteen varieties of parasites in the patient's intestines. In no case should it be used by children under two years of age and pregnant women, or the fairer sex planning pregnancy.

Dosage and side effects

The main unpleasant consequences of an exceeded dose of any of the drugs are:

  • nausea and vomiting;
  • dizziness;
  • anemia;
  • headache;
  • convulsions;
  • diarrhea;
  • heat;
  • rash, itching;
  • sleep disturbance.

The latter, Vormila, has more serious consequences of an overdose. In addition to the fact that some of the body's secretions may turn orange, patients have dangerous symptoms, starting with an increase in the size of the liver and ending with a violation of the visual process.

Of course, in addition to all this, there are contraindications. But basically they are calculated from the individual characteristics of the patient's body and the presence of allergies to any of the components of the drug.

Complications of pinworms in children

Do not forget that pinworms in children are a more dangerous disease than in adults. Children do not control themselves well and are unwittingly spreading the infection.

It's good if the first signs were noticed in time. Otherwise, not only family members can become infected, but also those around them through direct contact.

Pinworms, the preparations for the removal of which are so carefully developed and tested by leading experts in this field, like all living things, can evolve.

So it is worth being quite vigilant and not allowing them to appear in the body at all. There is no answer to the question of which pills are more effective in fighting parasites. Almost all types of drugs work well for pinworms in adults.

It is more difficult with children, but even here you can and should choose something that would suit one specific case. If, for whatever reason, pills do not help pinworms, then additional advice is needed.

Perhaps there are some other diseases in the body that interfere with the stable operation of the drugs. But do not despair - under the close supervision of a specialist, this disease goes away rather quickly.

In the end, you can always resort to folk methods, although many do not support them, from time immemorial people have been treated with what nature has bestowed on them, and you can debate for a long time about what is still more effective in this or that case.
