Everyone at least once in their life has come across parasites or worms. Along with many bacteria, viruses and microbes, spore fungi, they live in every corner of the environment, as an integral part of the ecosystem.

Roundworms are also a multicellular organism that perfectly adapts to any conditions of survival: salt or fresh water, soil or sand.

Life cycle and development of roundworm

Before considering the life cycle of a given parasite, let's define: ascaris - what is it. From the stage of a common microorganism to the development of an adult, which is in the human body, this representative of roundworms can exist for up to 12 years.

The next stage of development can be called the ingress of the roundworm directly into the human body. From the oral cavity or directly through the circulatory system, if penetration has occurred through the skin, it enters the stomach and intestines.

Destroying its walls, the parasite penetrates the bronchi through the blood, and from there it goes back to the mouth. And only after repeated targeted movement into the gastrointestinal tract, roundworms proceed to the process of growth, reproduction and the stage of migration.

Getting used to the microflora of people, their sexually mature representatives begin to move through various organs and systems. First, they are sent to the liver and pancreas, and then they follow the respiratory system: the lungs and bronchi.

They reach the right ventricle of the heart and even the brain. And all this time, they naturally spread toxic substances as a result of their vital activity. This is what parasitic human roundworms are.

Under favorable conditions, which provide for a temperature of about 25 ° C, high humidity, roundworms can exist in the larval stage for a long time, about 10 years. Moreover, they are absolutely safe for the outside world.

Only in humans do they cause complex processes and associated diseases. And how do they get into the human body.

There are several common ways:

  • polluted body of water. Worms insensitive to a liquid habitat enter the human body with a water stream: through the ears, mouth, skin. This also includes contamination from untreated tap water;
  • moist soil, sand. This applies to children playing in the summer and warm time in the sand, fans of country recreation and summer cottages, as well as rural residents. Microorganisms and more are transferred from the soil through the skin and wounds;
  • dirty unprocessed foods. Vegetables and fruits, fish and milk. Remember that livestock are often grazed near rivers, lakes and streams;
  • traditional handshake. Contact between an infected person and a healthy person leads to the transfer of ascaris. Through personal hygiene items, general use, clothing.

Even an elementary non-observance of usual hygiene procedures, like washing your hands in time, will only provoke the appearance of worms.

Symptoms of roundworm in the body

After the parasites enter the body and until the first characteristic signs, at least a month may pass. In rare cases, when the intensity of the development of roundworms is increased, their existence can be found out 14 days after infection.

But this is often overlooked, since their main symptoms do not appear too clearly:

  • dry, suffocating cough;
  • temperature 37.5 ° C;
  • rashes on the skin;
  • feeling weak and tired;
  • vomiting, nausea;
  • pain in the navel and abdomen;
  • visible enlargement of the lymph nodes;
  • violation of the stool, which is characterized by alternating constipation and diarrhea;
  • poor intermittent sleep.

These signs indicate the first stage, the phase of the life cycle of ascaris, their migration throughout the body. Symptoms are often confused with food poisoning and infectious diseases, and therefore rarely see a doctor for examination. But few people realize that this stage precedes a much more severe form - intestinal. It occurs 2 weeks after the first signs appear.

Ascariasis in children and adults

It should take about 1.5 - 2 months from the moment the worms enter the body for the intestinal stage or ascariasis disease to occur. It is at this stage that parasites are mainly diagnosed and treated.

The symptoms are already causing great concern for patients and doctors:

  • spontaneous outbreaks of pain in the abdomen;
  • white or yellowish skin tone;
  • vomiting, nausea;
  • increased salivation;
  • diarrhea gives way to constipation;
  • lowering blood pressure;
  • sharp weight loss.

Already pronounced ascariasis, which is caused by parasites, at this stage leads to very dangerous diseases:

  • appendicitis. Serious inflammation of the appendix, appendix;
  • pancreatitis. Destruction of the pancreas by its own enzymes;
  • intestinal obstruction;
  • cholecystitis. Violation of the biliary system;
  • bronchitis, pneumonia, purulent pleurisy; inflammatory processes in the genitourinary system;
  • sepsis. The toxic effect on the body leads to the fact that the immune system weakens enough. This provokes the activation of bacteria, microbes, Escherichia coli and other pathogens;
  • purulent inflammatory processes in the liver;
  • avitaminosis. Most parasites disrupt metabolism, thereby causing a lack of useful vitamins and elements;
  • cardiovascular problems;
  • disorders of the central nervous system.

And all this is provoked by small roundworms and the results of their life. Untimely identification and diagnosis of helminthic invasions leads to, at times, serious consequences.

Tests for roundworm

It will take several weeks for a thorough and most accurate examination for roundworms, as well as their larvae. Since worms are constantly migrating, it is very difficult to diagnose them and the subsequent process of treatment.

There are basic methods for determining ascaris in the body:

  • traditional analysis of feces for possible manifestations of eggs;
  • general blood analysis. With ascariasis, hemoglobin is often lowered and erythrocyte sedimentation rate is increased;
  • ultrasound procedure. Helps to visualize parasites;
  • radiography. Study of lesions and the presence of foreign microorganisms in the respiratory tract;
  • sputum examination is permissible at the initial stage of larval migration;
  • hardware vegetative resonance study. Provides for the use of computer diagnostics, determines not only the type, but also the number, stage of development of worms;
  • enzyme immunoassay for antibodies. They are formed in response to exposure to toxins caused by parasites.

Treatment of ascariasis

Since there are several stages of the disease, it is necessary to select drugs in accordance with the form of the course.

With early or late detection of ascaris, various antiparasitic drugs are prescribed:

  • "Thiabendazole". Forbidden for children under 2 years old. The daily dose is 50 mg per kilogram of body weight. Take 2 times a day. Course - 7 days;
  • "Vermox". With a complicated form of ascariasis. The daily intake is 2 times 100 mg for adults, children under 2 years old are not allowed to take.
  • "Dekaris". Used for intestinal, advanced forms. The recommended intake is 2.5 mg per kilogram of child weight and an adult one-time dose in the amount of the drug - 150 mg;
  • Pirantel. It is prescribed in a volume of 10 mg per kilogram of weight. One-time reception. Adults and children after 6 months.

After taking anthelmintic drugs, subsequent restorative therapy is usually prescribed.

These can be sorbents and multivitamin complexes:

  • Polysorb. Eliminates the effects of long-term intoxication caused by various reasons, removes the effects of allergies.
  • "Neuromultivitis". A complex of essential vitamins of group B. It is used to restore the body after infections and diseases, it has a beneficial effect on the central nervous system. The daily dosage is 1 tablet 3 times. Duration of admission is 4 days.

If ascariasis has caused complications or acute manifestations of any disease, drugs are selected individually for each patient. In this case, the doctor takes into account allergic reactions, the degree of organ damage, and possible consequences.

An additional solution to problems with worms will not hurt. But do not rely on too intense and effective effects of medicinal plants, roots and decoctions. They can significantly speed up the treatment, but not replace it.

Ingredients: tansy, sea and bitter wormwood, chamomile. Pour 1 glass of boiling water over. Reception to start the next morning - 200 mg 2 times a day. Duration of admission is 3-4 days.

Pomegranate recipe. Insist ½ of the fruit in 1 glass of boiling water. Can be taken after 2 hours. The daily dose is 3-4 teaspoons in the morning, at lunchtime and in the evening. Duration of admission is 4 days.

Ginger. Take dry root or purchased in powder form 3 times a day for по part of a teaspoon. Drink it with water. Before eating. Preferably in 30 minutes.

Melon. Fresh fruit can be taken without restriction. If, of course, there is no allergy. Pulp, juice - there is no difference. It is equally an excellent antihelminthic agent.
