Roundworms, roundworms, parasitize in the small intestine, giving rise to the so-called ascariasis in a person. They are also called Nematodes, they have a mouth and pharynx, intestines with an anal passage. Ascaris habitat is limited to the sea, fresh water, soil and some animals.

What type is the human roundworm? This is a type of roundworm from the animal kingdom. The human roundworm class is nematodes.

Ascaris characteristic

The ascaris worm is unable to attach itself to the surface of the intestine, or other organ, it always moves to meet the food that enters the human body. This parasite is resistant to poisonous substances and cannot be digested, and also easily avoids mechanical stress.

Description of the parasite: the only sensory organ is the tubercles around the mouth, on the back of the body there is an intestine in the form of a tube and a genital organ. It parasitizes mainly in the small intestine. The length of the male nematode is from 15 to 25 cm, and the female roundworm reaches 20-40 cm in length.

How human roundworms reproduce: the process takes place sexually, with the help of tubular-shaped organs that wriggle, and the females have acquired two ovaries, from which the oviducts go and pass into the uterus, merging into an unpaired vagina, which is located in the abdominal part of the body. The female lays 240 yew. eggs per day, and with the help of feces, are sent to the external habitat.

Ascaris lifestyle

Development stages of roundworm:

  • egg (located in the external environment);
  • larva (located in the intestines, passing into the organs with blood);
  • mature larva (when coughing, enters the stomach);
  • roundworm roundworm (lives in the intestines).

The parasite matures well in moist soil, leaving the human intestine. With good oxygen and temperature access, the larva appears after two weeks. Eggs enter the human body through poorly washed fruits and vegetables, water, they are also carried by insects, which can often be found in everyday life (flies and cockroaches). Then the larvae enter the intestine, and through its walls, they are sent to the blood and other organs. Coughing, launches them into the airways and back into the small intestine for further maturation. This is the habitat of the human roundworm in a living organism.

Having shed its shell, it sinks into the local vein, and the blood carries the parasite further. When it reaches the trachea, it causes a cough, and the roundworm is in the mouth. Having swallowed, the person sends it to the stomach. An adult is formed, the life span of which is one year. If a person constantly neglects the hygiene of products and himself in general, ascariasis can last for years.

The young parasite feeds on blood serum, then move on to erythrocytes, because there is a lot of oxygen in those, the further the worm grows, the more oxygen it needs, so they pass into the lungs. Going through the entire maturation cycle, roundworms fill the body as much as they can.

Ascaris harm to the body and symptoms of ascariasis

These parasites destroy the intestinal mucosa and poison the body. All this leads to stomach pain, indigestion, loss of appetite and performance.

In order to prevent infection with worms, the following points should be observed:

  • wash hands before eating;
  • wash fruits and vegetables well, and, if possible, peel off the peel;
  • do not allow insects to come into contact with your food.

Most often they are found in the small intestine, they also occur in other organs.

The main symptoms of ascariasis infection:

  1. increased salivation;
  2. vomiting and nausea;
  3. blood during bowel movements;
  4. stomach ache;
  5. itchy skin;
  6. high weakness and dramatic weight loss.

The habitat of the human roundworm in the body is most often found in the following organs: the gastrointestinal tract and liver, heart, lungs and brain.

If the infection is in the lungs, symptoms are as follows: dry cough and wheezing, shortness of breath, bronchitis, and high body temperature.

Heart: pain in it, hemorrhages and eosinophilic infiltrates.

Worms in the brain: seizures, convulsions, dizziness, loss of consciousness, depression.

Ascariasis treatment and prevention

Similar symptoms can manifest different diseases, so consultation with a pediatrician or infectious disease doctor is necessary. Basically, treatment is carried out with drugs. What kind of drug will be prescribed depends on the age and weight of the patient, and of course the stage of ascariasis.

In the early stages of infection, anti-allergic and anthelmintic drugs will be prescribed, which allows you to get rid of various worms. If the parasite is in the intestinal tract, there will be drugs of a different plan. Self-medication can be dangerous, so talking to your doctor is essential. You can always take a stool test and check for worm eggs.

Prophylaxis with pills is encouraged, but first, again, consult a doctor. Well-washed food, hands, storing food from insects and cleanliness will keep roundworms from entering your body. Be healthy!
