Bitter wormwood is a perennial plant of the Compositae family with a characteristic specific aroma and a very bitter taste. The smell of wormwood is quite strong.
The stem of the grass is branchy, dirty purple in color. The leaves are pinnately dissected, dark green above, light below. Flowers are yellow, small, tubular, collected in baskets up to 3 mm in diameter.
Plant height on good lands reaches 2 meters. It grows widely in almost all regions of the country on cultivated, abandoned and wild soils. Blooms in July - August.

Among the ancient Slavs, wormwood was considered a cult plant with the ability to cleanse the spiritual and physical world. Yogis and Buddhists have used wormwood essential oil in meditation as one of the best ways to help them focus. Many people are still confident that the aroma (smell) of wormwood scares away evil spirits, protects from the evil eye and damage.
In fact, wormwood is the queen of wastelands. One can understand the hatred of farmers towards it, since it is very difficult to eradicate, it grows massively and is completely unpretentious to soil and atmospheric conditions. However, not everyone knows that wormwood is one of the most valuable medicinal plants.
For medicinal purposes, flowers, leaves, leafy tops and roots are used. The aboveground part is collected during the flowering period, and the roots are dug out in late autumn.
Useful properties of wormwood

The chemical composition of wormwood is diverse: it includes bitterness and essential oils. It contains glycosides absintin, anabsintin, malic and succinic organic acids, protein, resinous and tannins.
The chemical composition itself determines the specificity of the effects of wormwood preparations on the body. By the way, wormwood is a pharmacopoeial plant in many civilized countries.
The bitterness of wormwood stimulates the digestive tract, has a beneficial effect on the secretion of gastric juice, the production of pancreatic enzymes, and also has a choleretic effect.
Bitter wormwood - application. Wormwood preparations also have sedative and tonic properties, which makes it possible to use them for insomnia, depression or anxiety.
Infusion of leaves or roots has long been popular among the people to treat nervousness and "epilepsy" disease (epilepsy). Oregano was also used for these purposes. Therefore, the best effect is achieved when both plants are combined in equal proportions.
To do this, 20 g of the collection (a tablespoon contains 10 g of ground dry plants) is brewed in half a liter of boiling water, the broth is insulated, infused for half an hour, filtered. It is drunk daily up to 4 times before meals for half a glass.
Wormwood has always been considered a female herb, therefore it has long been prescribed for female diseases. Assign in obstetrics and gynecology 1 tablespoon 3 times a day in the absence of menstruation, with pain in the lower abdomen on "critical days".

Bitter wormwood is used in folk medicine mainly in the form of decoctions, infusions and alcoholic tinctures, as well as in the form of a dry powder.
Bitter wormwood - application
With gastritis with low acidity. Pour 2 cups of boiling water over 1 teaspoon of wormwood herb. Insist for 20 minutes. Strain. Take 3 times a day for half a glass half an hour before meals.
With bleeding in the eye. Tie in a cotton cloth or in 2 layers of gauze 1 teaspoon of wormwood. Dip in boiling water. Leave slightly to suspend and apply to the sore eye. Do the procedures 2-3 times a day.
Drink "Ambrosia". This drink quenches thirst well. Pour 1 teaspoon of wormwood herb with a glass of boiling water. Insist until cooled, drain. Dissolve 25 g of natural honey in the infusion, add 25 g of cranberry juice and bring to 1 liter with chilled boiled water. Stir the mixture well and refrigerate for 2 hours.
With anemia. Fill a liter jar with bitter wormwood from May collection, pour vodka or alcohol diluted with water. Insist for 3 weeks in a dark place and take on an empty stomach 1 drop per 1 tbsp. a spoonful of water. The course is 3 weeks.
For insomnia. Pour a glass of boiling water over 1 tbsp. a spoonful of wormwood herb. Boil for 5 minutes over low heat. Insist 1 hour. Strain. Moisten a towel in the infusion, wring it out and wrap your head with it before going to bed.
For diarrhea. Pour half a liter of boiling water over 1 tbsp. spoonful of herbs. Insist 10 minutes. Drink 200 g immediately and the rest when it cools down. A very effective recipe.
For stomach pains. Pour 1 teaspoon of chopped wormwood herb with a glass of boiling water. Insist for 20 minutes. Strain and drink 3 times during the day, 1.5 hours before meals.
For bruises and swellings. Cover sore spots with a cloth dipped in an infusion of wormwood.
With pulmonary tuberculosis. Pour 1 tbsp with a glass of white wine. spoon of wormwood root. Insist in a dark place during the day. Strain. Take half a glass during the day on an empty stomach.
From impotence. Grind the seeds of wormwood (Chernobyl) into powder. Take 2-3 times a day for 1 teaspoon.
Wormwood ointment. Pour 100 g of fresh chopped wormwood with half a liter of melted pork lard. Put in a water bath and simmer for 2 hours, covered. Strain hot and drain into a jar. Cool down. Store the resulting ointment in the refrigerator. Rub sore spots.
Wormwood rub. Grind fresh bitter wormwood. Place in a glass jar so that it is filled to the top, but do not tamp. Pour olive oil here and close tightly. Insist for 2 weeks until the oil turns dark green, pearlescent. Strain and refrigerate. Rub sore spots at night.
Wormwood from worms. In case of pinworm infestation, the intake of wormwood preparations inside together with wormwood-garlic enemas is indicated. To prepare an enema solution, you need 1 head of garlic, 200 ml of water and 2 glasses of wormwood broth. Garlic is poured with boiling water and kept in a water bath for 20 minutes, then mixed with wormwood broth. Enemas take several days.
The decoction against alcoholism is prepared according to the following recipe: 4 g of wormwood, 16 g of thyme, 500 ml of water. The broth is boiled for 10 minutes, then the raw materials are squeezed out, the volume is brought to half a liter. A decoction of ⅓ glass is consumed three times a day. The course is 1 month.
For the purpose of cleansing, wormwood powder can be used. The scheme is as follows: three days, 5 g every 2 hours, then 1 day, 5 g every 4 hours, then 4 days, 5 g every 6 hours. The powder is washed down with water.
An infusion for rinsing hair with oily seborrhea is prepared as follows: 100 g of raw materials per 2.5 liters of boiling water. Infusion is carried out for half an hour. For a rejuvenating bath, the following infusion is prepared: 250 g of raw materials per 2.5 liters of boiling water. After half an hour of infusion, it is filtered directly into the bath.
Wormwood treatment of female and male diseases, gastrointestinal tract
Bitter wormwood - application. This plant is able to remove inflammatory processes in the genital tract, gastrointestinal tract, heal prostatitis, diseases of the pancreas, liver. You need to take 10 grams of a dry plant for the course.

Traditional healers help to heal tumors and cancer of the stomach, liver, uterus, spleen, as well as leukemia. Avicenna advised, even if any neoplasms appeared, to drink the infusion of this powerful anticancer agent at least 1 day a week. It is especially helpful to take bitter herb after surgery. There are people who, along with chemotherapy, took capsules of Artemisinin - a drug based on wormwood and completely healed from this ailment.
There are specific cases when wormwood was used to get rid of cancer. For example, one man got rid of prostate cancer. After the operation, he drank a tincture of bitter grass roots: put the roots in a 3 liter glass jar, pour vodka or moonshine 5 cm above their level, leave for 2 weeks. Pour 1 tbsp. in half a cup of warm water, drink 20 minutes before meals three times a day.
External oncology is treated for a rather long time, there is no need to take a break in treatment. Lotions from this broth are made specifically for the tumor. If you take a pharmacy tincture, then you should drip 15 drops into a small amount of water, drink 3 times a day before meals.
Bitter wormwood - application. Newly formed lung cancer cells are said to disappear if this tincture is taken. If the treatment is combined with iron preparations, then wormwood is able to "kill" cancer to the end. The main thing is that this herb does not touch healthy cells, only sick ones.
When to collect wormwood for treatment
The leaves are harvested before flowering, the stems after flowering, and the roots must be dug out immediately after cutting the stem. Young leaves without petioles, which are harvested in May and early June, have the strongest healing effect.
Raw materials are dried in a well-ventilated room, then crushed. A closed glass jar is suitable for storage.

Bitter wormwood - application. Harvested raw wormwood during budding and the beginning of flowering plants. Leaves (without petioles) are cut off by hand, and the tops of the shoots (grass) up to 25 cm long are cut with a knife, sickle, scissors.
Dried outdoors in the shade, in ventilated rooms, in attics, in dryers (the temperature should be kept no higher than 50 ° C to prevent volatilization of the essential oil). Dry stems of wormwood should break.
In good weather, wormwood dries up in 5 - 7 days. Raw materials are stored in tight bags or wooden containers for up to 2 years.
Addicted to wormwood
One has to get used to the “God's tree” treatment. To do this, on the 1st day, every 2 hours, take one dry ball - an inflorescence, soak it with saliva, then swallow it. On the 2nd day, 2 inflorescences. From the 5th day, take 4 times before meals and at night. Reception - 14 days.
Wormwood in cooking
Bitter wormwood - application. The extract of wormwood is used for the preparation of absinthe (distillate of alcoholic tincture from wormwood and other herbs). It is this ingredient that gives absinthe a specific, unique taste. Wormwood is one of the main components in vermouth, as well as in some alcoholic tinctures.
