Video: Giardia In The Liver: How To Remove Giardia From The Liver
Giardia in the liver are microscopic creatures that can cause a serious blow to human health. Once in the body, lamblia begins to actively multiply, as a result of which unfavorable processes begin in the internal organs of a person. Giardia often parasitizes the liver. Diagnosis of this disease is of particular difficulty, since the clinical picture has no specific symptoms. Nevertheless, it is precisely early diagnosis that is the key to successful and fast treatment.

What is lamblia
Giardia is an insignificantly small microbe from the order of parasites. It is he who causes the disease called giardiasis. It was discovered at the end of the seventeenth century by the inventor of the microscope, Anthony Van Leeuwenhoek.
Then it was studied in more detail by Professor Lambl, whose surname became, in fact, the name of this parasite. This microbe carries out its parasitic action in the human intestine, as well as in its biliary system.
This parasite can be in two states - mobile (vegetative) and motionless (in the form of a cyst). Giardia has eight flagella and a disc equipped with suction cups. With the help of these devices, it is held on the inside of the intestinal walls.
The disease that is provoked by lamblia is called giardiasis. It is much more common in children than in adults.
If you look at this microbe through a microscope, you can see a very active "creature" moving at high speed along the intestinal walls. As you know, inside the intestine consists of villi, which, by processing useful substances contained in food, transfer it to the body.
It is on these villi that lamblia parasitize, simply taking away everything that was intended for the human body. In the intestines of an infected person, several tens of billions of microbes can be simultaneously found!
In a favorable environment, they are able to reproduce at a tremendous rate - on the order of the rate of cell division. When leaving the small intestine into the human rectum, lamblia takes the form of a cyst, creating a protective shell around itself.
In this form, they are removed from the human body and, if they enter a favorable environment for them, they can cause infection of another person, once in whose intestines they will again go into a vegetative form.
In the human body, these creatures are manifested in two forms:
- vegetative, adult (trophozoites), this form dies quickly;
- cyst (protective form), created in case of unfavorable conditions for lamblia. This form is not destroyed by antibacterial drugs. Inside the body, trophozoites are released from the cyst, which are suitable for reproduction. Some of them again form cysts, which are excreted with feces into the external environment.
What is lamblia in the liver
Giardia in the liver. Once in the human gastrointestinal tract, these unicellular organisms start a cycle of active reproduction. In adults, lamblia invasion is more reminiscent of the symptoms of liver and biliary tract pathology. However, signs of giardiasis will not always be present. It was found that out of 40% of sick people, clinical manifestations of invasion are observed only in 20%.
Giardiasis is ubiquitous. Statistics indicate that in developed countries the number of adults with giardiasis ranges from 3 to 5%, and in developing countries from 10 to 15%. Most parasitologists are sure that the real number of patients is much higher, which is associated with the high likelihood of an asymptomatic course of invasion in adulthood.
Giardia in the liver is a protozoal invasion, which is provoked by the simplest microorganisms.
The disease is characterized by disorders of the digestive function. In the forefront are abdominal pains, stool disturbances, flatulence. In parallel, the development of an allergic, neurotic and hepatolienal syndrome is possible.
Diagnostics of the lamblia in the liver
Diagnosis of lamblia in the liver in adults is rather difficult, which is explained by the variety of symptoms, as well as the nonspecificity of the clinical picture. Very often, patients with giardiasis are observed by gastroenterologists, allergists, neurologists, dermatologists and other narrow specialists, receiving treatment that is ineffective.
Therapy does not help, as it is aimed at eliminating any syndrome of giardiasis, and not at treating the underlying disease.
For the final confirmation of the diagnosis, a laboratory study of feces for lamblia cysts, or a study of the duodenal contents will be required. The main method of laboratory diagnosis is microscopic examination of fresh feces or smears.
When diagnosing a disease, the doctor should pay attention to the following signs: pale skin; plaque on the tongue (most often it is white or yellow); enlargement of the liver in size; bloating and rumbling in the intestines; pain in the right hypochondrium and near the navel, which intensify during palpation.
When carrying out diagnostics, it should be borne in mind that cysts and trophozoites of lamblia come out with feces not constantly, but cyclically. Therefore, in order to obtain the most reliable result, the study of feces must be carried out several times (from 3 to 5 studies throughout the month).
Giardia in the liver. You can confirm the diagnosis using ELISA, using PCR diagnostics. However, these methods are not leading in terms of diagnosis.
Indirect methods to establish lamblia in the liver are:
- Ultrasound of the liver, gallbladder, cholecystography;
- performing a hemogram. Giardiasis will be indicated by an increased number of eosinophils and monocytes in the blood;
- performing a biochemical blood test. Indirect signs of invasion are B-lymphocyte deficiency, decreased albumin concentration, high levels of alkaline phosphatase;
- according to the results of the analysis of feces for microflora, signs of dysbiosis will be traced.
Thus, making a correct diagnosis, although difficult, is possible.
Causes of lamblia in the liver
Giardia carriers can be dogs, cats, rabbits and other animals. Various insects can carry the larvae of lamblia on their paws: cockroaches, flies, ants, etc. The mechanism of infection is fecal-oral. Giardia cysts can enter the human body through water, food and contact-household routes.
Giardia in the liver. The invasiveness of the adult population will be the higher, the stronger the pollution of the environment, the worse the condition of the water supply and sewerage system, the higher the overcrowding of the collectives, the lower the level of sanitary and educational work in a particular settlement. These factors explain the high proportion of sick adults in the developing world.
The source of distribution of lamblia is an invasive person. It is he who releases mature cysts of the parasite into the external environment. They leave the patient's body along with feces.
It is worth noting that the risk of infection in adulthood is not as high as in childhood. The fact is that the digestive system of an adult is more perfect and has a more aggressive environment for parasites. Therefore, if several lamblia cysts enter the digestive tract, infection may not occur.
The factors are: congenital malformations and anomalies in the development of the biliary tract; diseases of the digestive system, accompanied by low acidity and deterioration of enzymatic activity; surgical interventions on the stomach and duodenum; adherence to diets low in protein; inaccuracies in nutrition, leading to dystrophy.
The causes of lamblia in the liver are:
- violation of the rules of personal hygiene. Dirty hands are especially dangerous in this regard;
- eating seeded fruits, herbs, vegetables, salads, berries, etc.
- drinking unboiled water. Although all tap water supplied to living quarters goes through several stages of treatment, it may contain lamblia cysts. They can get there through damaged pipes, or in violation of filtration technologies. Naturally, the risks of contamination increase significantly when drinking water from natural sources;
- poor sanitary living conditions. In this case, we are talking about the abundance of insects in the living room, since they are the spread of infection;
- exploitation of common use items without proper preliminary processing;
- any contact with soil is a potential hazard.
Treatment of lamblia in the liver
Giardia in the liver. In the presence of lamblia in the liver, the course of treatment consists of three components: adherence to a strict diet, taking multivitamins and protistocidal drugs. As a rule, the course of treatment with specific drugs is 5-7 days and after re-diagnosis, if the results have not improved, the drug is replaced with another.
In the case of giardiasis, self-medication is excluded, since determining the type of pathogen is possible only in laboratory conditions, on the basis of which appropriate treatment is prescribed.
The treatment regimen in this case is aimed in general at strengthening the body, maintaining the liver and digestion stability. As a rule, doctors prescribe antifungal drugs or antibiotics in combination with drugs that normalize the intestinal microflora.
With the defeat of giardiasis of the intestinal microflora, a more acute reaction of the body to taking antibiotics occurs. Therefore, it is so important to provide the intestines with maximum comfort when undergoing any kind of treatment.
For preventive purposes, in the absence of digestive disorders, it is useful to use a natural immunity stimulator - ordinary garlic, which is able to actively fight many infections and fungi.
This disease is usually treated in 3 stages, each of which has its own specific purpose:
The first stage: strengthening the defenses, removing intoxication and creating conditions that will be unfavorable for the reproduction of lamblia.
Second stage: direct destruction of parasites with appropriate drugs.
Third stage; consolidation of the achieved result, maintaining an environment unfavorable for the development of lamblia, strengthening the immune system.
Diet: plays an important role at all three stages, because it is she who is designed to create the most unfavorable conditions for the life of lamblia and, along with elementary preventive measures, to prevent the recurrence of the disease.
Giardia tablets in the liver
Giardia in the liver. Giardia tablets in the liver are an effective means of fighting the disease.
Tibaral: Tibaral (Ornidazole, Ornisid) is considered one of the leaders. Giardia tablets in adults in the liver are taken according to the proven classical scheme. The drug is taken at bedtime in the amount of 3 tablets.
A limiting factor is the presence of side effects (according to statistical observations, contraindications are present in 15% of patients). In the presence of such conditions as: dysfunction of the gastrointestinal tract; the appearance of headaches; manifestation of drowsiness; allergic reactions. You should stop taking the pills.
Tinidazole: The next most popular drug is tinidazole. By the strength of the effect, this drug is inferior to Tiberal (up to 77%). The symptoms of side effects are similar to those of Tiberal. At one time, you should take 4 tablets at once. Albendazole is a universal remedy for all types of worms.
For patients, it is not entirely available due to the high cost of the drug. The principal mechanism of action of the drug is based on the ability to suppress the ability to absorb sugar by worms and protozoan parasites, which leads to disruptions in their life cycle and further death.
This drug is able to fight not only giardiasis, but also with other helminthic diseases: teniasis; hymenolepiasis; hookworm disease; strongyloidosis.
Enterol: the use of a new drug - enterol is relevant. The medicine contains a culture of saccharomyces fungi. By their nature, they are antagonists of lamblia. At the preparatory stage, enterol is used in combination with therapeutic diets, sorbents, drugs of the symptomatic group.
Enterol belongs to probiotics. The presence of living microorganisms leads to the destruction of worms, parasites from the group of protozoa, normalizes appetite, promotes high-quality absorption of food components.
In the initial stage of the fight against giardiasis, adults are recommended to use 250 mg of the drug per week, 1 capsule. After the preparatory stage and assessment of the general condition of the patient, you should start taking medications for lamblia.
In cases where the pancreas has pathological changes, it would be logical to resort to taking pills of mezim-forte, pancreatin, wobenzym. Creon gives a good result, but due to the high price it is not available for most patients.
In cases where the patient's normal process of bile secretion from the bladder is disturbed, the use of choleretic agents is categorically contraindicated. Blockage of the bile outlet duct when artificially stimulating the outflow of bile is fraught with cholecystitis. In such cases, there is a high probability of severe pain in the right hypochondrium, epigastrium.
Giardia in the liver. If the pain does not go away for more than a third of an hour, then urgent surgery is needed. In the stage of chronic exacerbation, the patient feels periodic pain for 3 months. Experts recommend taking no-shpa, duspatalin, odeston (antispasmodics).
In the presence of pancreatitis aggravated by intestinal disorders, specific medications are used. Giardiasis affects the liver and pancreas. The presence of such complications requires additional dosage forms.
In order to avoid pathological changes in liver cells (hepatocytes), hepaprotectors should be taken - carsil tablets, Essentiale-forte. Long-term illness significantly lowers the threshold of the body's immunity.
The preparation "Bion 3" can help in the restoration of reduced immunity. In its composition, it contains bifidobacteria, trace elements, a complex of vitamins. This will help to cope with intestinal dysbiosis. The reception continues for one month, one pill every day.
What foods can not be eaten with lamblia in the liver
Lambliam lives very comfortably if a person consumes: white bread, pasta, pasta and other flour products, semolina; sweets, including ice cream, sweets, sweet drinks, jam, honey; sweet fruits: bananas, peaches, grapes, melons; pure milk and milk porridge, soups; starchy semi-finished products: sausages, sausages, pates.

Porridge on water (no milk added): rice; oats; buckwheat; corn, barley (for example, barley).
Lean meat, fish; potatoes boiled in water or cooked in their skins in moderation. fermented milk fat-free foods (help to cope with dysbiosis); a sufficient amount of water (for an adult who does not have kidney or cardiovascular diseases, about 1.5–2 liters per day).
All dishes are steamed or served boiled, stewed or baked. It is recommended to eat often, but in small portions, optimally - 5-6 times.
The first courses are prepared on hated broth: chicken, turkey, vegetable. Steep broths such as jellied meat, fish soup is not recommended.
A special place in the treatment of giardiasis is occupied by birch sap, as well as the use of choleretic herbs. Sweeteners that do not contain carbohydrates can be used to sweeten food. Vegetable oil is preferred among fats.
An infectious disease doctor treats giardiasis, he will also tell you about proper nutrition for this disease. You can also consult a gastroenterologist. It will also be useful to consult a nutritionist for drawing up a menu.
