Pharmacological action of the drug Dekaris
Broad-spectrum anthelmintic agent. It has immunomodulatory properties. A single dose of Decaris provides a reliable effect against ascariasis in 100 out of 100% of cases. Due to the suppression of the action of enzymes, the selective inhibition of succinate dehydrogenase, the drug paralyzes both mature parasites, as well as larvae, which are secreted from the intestine by normal intestinal peristalsis. In cases of ankylostomiasis, a single dose of levamisole is less effective (53-72%), but its repeated use increases the effectiveness.
The drug is also successfully used for infections with strongyloidosis and trichostrongylosis. Even in untreated cases, there is a significant decrease in the number of eggs, larvae and helminths. A decrease in the number of helminths is also of great importance from an epidemiological point of view: the prevalence and intensity of foci of infection decreases.
The drug is not toxic: in mammals, levamisole does not affect succinate dehydrogenase, therefore it is effective against the parasite, but harmless to humans. The therapeutic indicator according to the results of studies on various types of animals is favorable, the drug is excreted from the body after providing a therapeutic effect after a few hours.

According to laboratory studies, levamisole does not affect the blood picture, urine, liver function. As a conclusion, the results of the treatment of various helminthiases can be legally summarized as follows: in areas where the most important parasitological problem is ascariasis, levamisole is the drug of choice, meaning the 100% effectiveness of a single dose and good tolerance. In the presence of polyparasitosis, it is clear that mebendazole is the drug of choice.
Levamisole has a fast anthelmintic effect. In ganglion-like formations of nematodes, levamisole causes depolarizing neuromuscular paralysis. Thus, paralyzed nematodes are removed from the body by normal intestinal peristalsis within 24 hours after taking the drug.
Indications for the use of the drug Dekaris

Dekaris, the use of which is indicated for the fight against helminths, also acts as an immunodulator, the use of which is possible in various infectious diseases.
As an antihelminthic agent, the drug is used for ascariasis and ankylostomiasis.
Application as an immunomodulator can be used in the following cases:
- with infectious diseases (herpes, hepatitis B, inflammation of the upper and lower respiratory tract, warts);
- with autoimmune diseases and immunodeficiency states (Crohn's disease, rheumatoid arthritis, aphthous stomatitis, Reiter's disease);
- with existing malignant tumors of the lungs, breast and colon;
- with leukemia and lymphogranulomatosis.
Side effects of the drug Dekaris
From the intestine, Decaris is rapidly absorbed into the blood. An increase in the concentration of Decaris in the blood leads to impaired immunity, as a result of which the body's resistance to infections decreases.

In addition, the following health disorders may occur, in the instructions for the drug called side effects: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea; abdominal pain, pancreatitis; ulceration of the oral mucosa; increased activity of alkaline phosphatase, which leads to damage to the liver, bones, placenta; headache, convulsions, speech impairment, fatigue, tremor, movement coordination disorder, sleep disturbances; kidney damage; an increase in the content of creatinine in the blood, the toxic effect of which destroys muscle tissue.
Drug poisoning can lead to toxic damage to the bone marrow, resulting in the development of blood and vascular diseases:
- leukopenia - a decrease in the number of leukocytes (immune blood cells that determine the immune response to the aggression of harmful bacteria);
- agranulocytosis - more severe damage to immune blood cells accompanied by infectious processes: angina, ulcerative stomatitis, pneumonia, nosebleeds, diathesis with small rashes on the skin and the appearance of continuous bruises caused by destruction of blood vessels;
- uterine bleeding;
- inflammation of the walls of blood vessels (vasculitis);
- swollen lymph nodes (lymphadenopathy), which indicates that you are developing an allergy or precancerous condition;
- allergic reactions: skin rash, dermatitis, edema of the conjunctiva and cornea of the eye, iridocyclitis;
- muscle weakness and even taste perversion.
The use of Decaris is limited in time, since it contains a very toxic substance - levamisole, so the danger of an overdose of the drug is very high. You should be alarmed even by the very first signs of intoxication: headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. In this case, it is necessary to refuse to take decaris, rinse the stomach, take enterosorbents, which will help to cope with intoxication. Otherwise, the consequences can be the most sad: convulsions, confusion, lethargy.

In healthy people, taking Decaris causes the following health deviations: impaired digestion and absorption of nutrients - dyspeptic and dyspeptic disorders; blood poisoning - especially with prolonged use; decreased resistance to infections.
It is strictly forbidden to take Decaris to pregnant women and during the period of breastfeeding of an infant; if you have poor blood test results (anemia); children under the age of 14.
You must remember if you have a chronic disease: liver and / or kidney failure, impaired bone marrow hematopoiesis (anemia), impaired blood circulation in the brain, atherosclerosis (especially if you are an elderly person), leukemia (blood cancer), taking Decaris causes a worsening of the condition …
In the instructions for use of Decaris, the recommended doses should be taken once (1 tab. Once a day). If necessary, repeat taking decaris after 1 week. With toxoplasmosis (in this case, the parasite lives inside the cells of human organs) 1 table. once a day for 3 days (2-3 courses with 1 week intervals).

The instructions say that Dekaris is prescribed for the treatment of ascariasis, strongyloidiasis, ankylostomiasis, trichostrongyloidiasis, necatorosis. And at the same time, the development cycle of larval forms of helminths, which during this period live in the internal organs and can populate, blinking with the blood flow from organ to organ, is 3 months. As you can see, even repeated intake of decaris does not allow getting rid of the parasite larvae. In addition, it is necessary to remove parasitic intoxication, otherwise it will lead to sad consequences for your health.
Instructions for the drug Dekaris for use for children
To undergo treatment with Dekaris in children of various parasites, a doctor's appointment is mandatory (since a huge number of different side effects must be taken into account). Tablets for children are produced, which contain 50 mg of levomizole. The dosage is calculated by the weight of the child: one child's tablet is calculated per 10 kg.

Therefore, if your child weighs 30 kg, then three children's tablets are prescribed for one dose, you can replace it with one tablet for adults. If you do not take into account the exact weight of children, basically the dosage is as follows: aged 3 to 6 years -25-50 mg: aged 6 to 10 years -50-75 mg; at the age of 10 to 14 years - 75-100 mg.
Of course, the dosage calculated by the child's weight is much better, since it reduces and sometimes eliminates the likelihood of side effects. This dosage is safer, be sure to follow the instructions for use. The attending physician should calculate the dosage of Decaris by weight individually for each child.
The appointment of Decaris to children as an immunomodulatory agent is not very appropriate. Nowadays, a fairly large number of various more effective and safe immunomodulators. But the appointment of treatment with Dekaris as an increase in the immunity of a child is possible only by a doctor - an immunologist.
Reviews about the treatment of children with Decaris are almost always positive. This is of course strange, but based on the reviews, side effects in children are quite rare in comparison with adults. Surely this is due to the fact that people who wrote reviews, treated their children with Decaris, be sure to observe the dosage prescribed by the attending physician. And also in the reviews it is said about the most powerful antiparasitic effect of this drug, which is very comfortable for a single dose.
Instructions for use of the drug Dekaris for adults
This drug is recommended to be taken with or after a meal with a little water. If necessary, the drug can be taken again after about one or two weeks. During treatment with Decaris, you do not need to follow a specific diet, and you do not need to take laxatives.
When taken as an antiparasitic agent, a single dose is 150 mg (this is one tablet). When treating toxoplasmosis, the drug is taken in a course of three days (one tablet per day). There are usually two or three such courses, but with a mandatory break of seven days. The use of Decaris as an immunomodulator is very rare, but in these cases the dosage remains the same - one tablet per day for a course of three days.

The intervals between taking the drug are two weeks. Usually, after passing two courses of taking Decaris, the patient is prescribed one tablet once a week. But the duration of treatment is determined by an immunologist under the supervision of analyzes and studies.
During pregnancy, prescribing treatment with Decaris is contraindicated. When a pregnant woman is infected with parasites, it is recommended, so as not to harm the health of the unborn child, treatment with folk remedies: enemas with garlic, pumpkin seeds, etc. In rare cases, it is necessary to prescribe the drug to a nursing woman, for this period, breastfeeding of the baby should be stopped.
Interaction of the drug Dekaris with other drugs
With the simultaneous administration of the drug Dekaris with alcoholic beverages, the development of disulfiram-like symptoms is possible. Caution is required when using Decaris with drugs that affect hematopoiesis.
With the simultaneous administration of the drug Dekaris with coumarin anticoagulants, the prothrombin time may increase, therefore, it is necessary to correct the dose of the oral anticoagulant. Decaris increases the concentration of phenytoin in the blood, therefore, with the simultaneous use of these drugs, it is necessary to control the level of phenytoin in the blood plasma.
Cannot be used simultaneously with lipophilic drugs (tetrachloromethane, tetrachlorethylene, chenopodium oil, chloroform, ether), as the toxicity of levamisole may increase. Signs of intoxication such as nausea, vomiting, lethargy, spasms, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, and confusion have been reported with levamisole in doses over 600 mg. Treatment: in case of an accidental overdose - if a little time has passed after taking it - rinse the stomach. Monitoring of vital signs and symptomatic therapy is necessary.
If there are signs of anticholinesterase action, atropine can be administered as an antidote.

Decaris and Transfer Factor
It is difficult to assess the effectiveness of the drug Dekaris as an immunomodulator, the price of which for 1 tablet is about 100 rubles. After all, its long-term use can affect the body quite negatively, as warned by both the instructions for use and people's reviews.

Transfer Factor is the most powerful and well-known immunomodulator to date. Completely natural composition (the drug is created on the basis of cow colostrum and chicken egg yolks), in contrast to the synthetic drug, which is Dekaris, is well accepted by the body. The drug has no contraindications, because it is not capable of causing side effects and addiction.
The transfer factor has no age restrictions and has a very profound effect on the human body. He manages to fight the disease and remove the cause of its occurrence, eliminating violations in the structure of DNA.
The drug is used to restore the body's immune system. The transfer factor has received a large number of positive reviews and is recommended for admission to patients who have to deal with the destructive force of the disease present in the body, as well as to those people who want to take care of the health and longevity of their own and their children in advance.
If, nevertheless, the decision to take Decaris is made, then the complex premise of this agent and the Transfer factor will help restore the necessary immune processes in the body and neutralize the side effects of Decaris.
